MMSF Power 10 Week Ten

Every Tuesday here on the Blog - and later on the show - we unveil our Matt Mc's Sports Fix NFL Power 10. This is a snapshot of the top tier teams in the league based on the games played to this point. Do you agree or disagree with these rankings? Please email in your thoughts at mattmcsportsfix@yahoo.com.
  1. New England 7-2 (3) - Nothing epitomizes the 2010 National Football League season other than the last two Patriot games. Blown at 3-6 Cleveland and blow out last week's No. 1 Pittsburgh Sunday night. I'm not at all sold on New England at this moment, but, at this point, that means nothing. That Steeler win was probably the best of the season by any team.
  2. New York Jets 7-2 (4) - The Jets had the ball for almost 50 minutes against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Sounds impressive right? My father never understood why that stat means so much and this game is a perfect example. If Chansi Stuckey doesn't fumble the ball the Browns, with a rook QB, beat New York. If I'm a Jet fan I would be more concerned with that anemic offense than I would be happy with the team's 5-0 road record.
  3. Philadelphia 6-3 (6) - The Eagles have crushed the Falcons, without Mike Vick (and with DeSean Jackson leaving early due to injury) and they beat the Colts with those two healthy. With Monday's beat down at Washington Philly becomes the team to beat in the NFC and a true Super Bowl contender (yeah baby!). Vick is the MVP too, no doubt about that either.
  4. Pittsburgh 6-3 (1) - See the Patriots bio and add a more negative tone. The Steelers have some great wins this season, but they were throttled by New England at home on a Sunday night. That OLine may be a reason ring no. 7 doesn't come to Rooney family.
  5. Green Bay 6-3 (9) - No team needed a bye week more than the Pack. Although, with 10 on the IR it's not like time is going to bring those players back this season. I'll continue to buy in on Green Bay so long as Clay Matthews Jr. is playing.
  6. Indianapolis 6-3 (7) - Thanks to injuries the brutal AFC South has turned into the ugly AFC West. Indy has a slim lead in the division, but with games at New England and home against San Diego next up, the South winner may have 6 or 7 losses.
  7. Atlanta 7-2 (10) - A lower than expect ranking, no? I don't care though, the Falcons have a quality home win over Baltimore and a quality road win at New Orleans and honestly I'm not sure if either of those are really that 'quality.'
  8. Baltimore 6-3 (2) - The Ravens have four opponents left ahead of them with a losing record. By the time the playoffs hit Baltimore will have something near 11 wins and everyone will be loving them. I, however, still will see a team with an average defense (especially against the pass) and a team without a consistent run game.
  9. New Orleans 6-3 (NR) - Drew Brees, yada yada yada Sean Payton, yada yada yada, Super Bowl champs. I don't trust this team at all, but it's hard to erase the images of the 2009 playoffs and Super Bowl.
  10. New York Giants 6-3 (5) - A road trip to Philadelphia will settle which team is truly the best in the NFC and it should raise the ole temperature of the Tom Coughlin's seat. For those that trust in Eli Manning games like Sunday against Dallas will forever haunt you. By the way that pick six Manning tossed in the first half was 100% his fault and not wide out Hakeem Nicks,' like Fox announcer Troy McClure Aikman said it was.
